Authentic Pomodoro Sauce Recipe
- 1 Kg Whole Fresh Tomatoes
- 1/2 cup of water
- 10 grams of sea salt or Himalayan salt
- A handful of fresh basil leaves
- 2-3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- First, take fresh “whole tomatoes.”
- Cut the tomatoes on top to form a cross. Remove the green hard “vine” part of the tomato seeds.
- Put the tomatoes in a pot and add ½ cup of water. Boil them for a few minutes over medium heat.
- After boiling, transfer these tomatoes into a strainer to get rid of acidity and excessive water. The leftover is pulpy tomatoes.
- Remove the tomato skin.
- Put these tomatoes into the manual blender and blend well to get a smooth velvety red paste. Also, add salt and mix it well.
- Take a glass bottle with an airtight lid, put a handful of fresh basil into the bottle, and put tomato sauce into it an inch below the bottle opening.
- Put one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil on the top of the sauce into the bottle and close the lid tightly.
- Add water into a large pot and put the bottle into it for sterilization.
- Turn on the flame and boil this bottle for at least an hour. Later on, cool it down to room temperature.
